About Dr. Yang

Dr. Bowen Yang is one of the skilled and compassionate foot and ankle surgeons practicing at Foot & Ankle Premier Specialists, with locations in Hoboken, Jersey City, Bayonne, West New York, Ridgefield & Bloomfield, NJ. 

Dr. Yang’s passion for foot and ankle care began early, as a basketball player, sneaker enthusiast, and curious student working at Foot Locker. Inspired by his parents’ dedication as physicians, he pursued a path blending sports, science, and surgery. Today, he brings that same commitment to patients at Foot & Ankle Premier Specialists, combining surgical expertise with a patient-centered philosophy.

Dr. Yang earned his Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences in Chengdu, China, before advancing his research in tissue engineering and bone regeneration at Queen’s University in Canada, where he completed a Master of Applied Sciences. His work focused on innovative bone scaffold polymers and regenerative therapies, laying the foundation for his surgical career. He graduated in the top 15 of his class at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, serving as Class President for three years, and completed his rigorous surgical residency at LIJ–North Shore/Northwell Health on Long Island, NY. There, he trained under leaders in the field, assisting in 500+ surgeries and close to 1000 procedures, including: forefoot reconstructions (bunions, hammertoes), complex deformity correction (flatfoot, arthritis fusions), trauma and sports injuries (fractures, ligament repairs), and diabetic limb salvage and wound care.

Described by mentors as a “natural surgeon,” Dr. Yang balances technical skill with a conservative-first approach. He prioritizes non-surgical options when possible and designs personalized care plans tailored to each patient’s lifestyle and goals. Known for his attentive listening and clear communication, he ensures patients feel heard, educated, and empowered in their treatment journey.

Board-qualified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle (RRA) Surgery, Dr. Yang merges his unique background—from sneaker culture to cutting-edge tissue research, and then into compassionate, evidence-based care. He’s proud to serve the New Jersey community as both a surgeon and a trusted neighbor.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Yang enjoys basketball, Formula 1, skiing, and hiking, alongside cooking meals for family and friends.
